ISLAMABAD, Sept 6: Pakistan on Tuesday rejected a claim by an Afghan governor that two Japanese nationals, whose bodies were found in the southern Afghanistan, were killed on the other side of the border and their bodies were thrown in Afghanistan.

Kandahar Governor Assadullah Khalid had said on Monday that the two Japanese were killed outside the Afghan border and their bodies were later taken to the Afghan soil.

“The record with our immigration authorities at the border show that the Japanese had crossed into Afghanistan in board daylight,” Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesman Mohammad Naeem Khan told reporters here.

Mr Khan said Pakistan did not know about their fate after they crossed into Afghan territory from Pakistan.

Taliban had also denied any involvement in the murder of the two Japanese tourists. Jun Fukusho, 44, and Shinobu Hasegawa, 30, both junior high school teachers from Hiroshima, went missing since their entry to Spin Boldak of Kandahar on Aug 8.

Their bodies found in Spin Boldak on Friday were having bullet shots. The bodies have been handed over to the Japanese embassy in Afghanistan.—Online
