62 doctors to face legal action in Chakwal: Three-day strike

CHAKWAL, Oct 14: The provincial health department and agencies have finalised the list of 62 doctors for legal action who observed a three-days strike on the arrest of one of their colleague, Dr Mohammad Aamir, who was arrested on the observation of a full bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary and Justice Nawaz Abbasi had ordered to transfer all those doctors who observed the strike which was sheer contempt of the apex court.

According to the list, 42 doctors are government servants while 20 are from the private sector.

Besides the MS and DMS District Headquarter Hospital Chakwal, the list include names of Dr Afzal Bhatti, Dr Mohammad Kibria, Dr Tariq Awan, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Bhatti, Dr Athar Rasheed, Dr Maqsood Minhas, Dr Mehdi Hassan, Dr Zafar Iqbal, Dr Shakeel Mughal, Dr Yousaf, Dr Bashir, Dr Aurang Zaib, Dr Mehboob Ahmad, Dr Khalid Azadar, Dr Farhat, Dr Iqrar Shah, Dr Abida Yasmeen, Dr Farrah, Dr Noureen Mumtaz, Dr Rizwana Yasmeen and Dr Ikramul Haq.

The names of in-charge Rural Health Centre Munday Dr Ishfaq Salik, in-charge Basic Health Unit Karyala Dr Mumtaz Ahmad also include in the list.

MS Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Choa Saiden Shah Dr Iqbal Ghani and his colleagues’ names: Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, Dr Muneer Langah, Dr Gull Dad Khan, Dr Mumtaz Ahmad, Dr Zareen and Dr Munza are also present in the list.

Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Talagang’s MS Dr Mohammad Razaq, Dr Aftab Hayat, Dr Nazir, Dr Tabasum Zia, Dr Nisar, Dr Darkhsinda Bakhat, Dr Iqbal and in-charge BHU Pichnand Dr Arshad Mehmood Malik are also among them.

The private sector doctors include Dr Sultan Mehmood, Dr Mushtaq Awan, Dr Shafqat Zaidi, Dr Ishfaq Bhatti, Dr Gulistan, Dr Akram Tariq, Dr Ishtiaqur Rehman Mulhal Mughlan while Dr Javid Iqbal, Dr Aftab, Dr Yousaf Niazi, Dr Nisar, Dr Zahid, Dr Bashir, Dr Masoodul Hassan, Dr Mohammad Anwar Qazi, Dr Yaqoob Saad, Dr Jamshaid Umar, Dr Saleem Rehmat, Dr Tariq Pervez and Dr Sajid Hameed.

Sources claimed that secretary health Punjab is likely to take action against these doctors in the next few days and their transfers were on the card besides legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, police registered another case against Dr Aamir, child specialist of the District Headquarter Hospital, on the report of armyman Shahid Nawaz, whose four-day infant Nouman died due to negligence.

Shahid Nawaz had lodged a complaint on June 30, alleging that his minor son died due to sheer negligence of Dr Aamir.

Police on Saturday registered a case under section 315 and 316 against the doctor and started investigation.

TWO BOOKED: Dhumman police arrested two alleged dacoits and recovered a snatched motorcycle.

Zafar Hussain, resident of Shah Pur Syedan, told police that he was on way to home when Naeem Haider and Tahir Haider allegedly snatched his bike (GAH-4260) and fled away. Police has arrested the accused.

In the meantime, an alleged fraudster was booked by Choa Saiden Shah police for giving a fake cheque to an iron merchant.

Mohammad Hayat said that Mohammad Khan had purchased construction material for his house and gave him a cheque, Rs1.13 million, which was dishonoured at the bank. Police registered a case and started searching the accused.
