KARACHI, March 23: The city government will begin renovating the Jheel Park on Saturday while it would also lay a modern park on the pattern of Bagh Ibne Qasim in Rehri Goth, Landhi, said City Nazim Mustafa Kamal on Friday.

The nazim paid a seven-hour long visit to review the situation of parks in the city. Chairman of the Human Resources Committee Masood Mehmood, DO for Parks Liaquat Ali, Landhi Town Nazim Dr Irshad, Naib Nazim Asif Hasnain and other officials were also with him.

He visited the Jheel Park, the Kidney Hill Park and the site of the proposed Kite Park in Rehri Goth.

He was given a briefing on the Jheel Park, where he was informed that in the master plan the park was spread over 25 acres but at present 15 acres of the land was encroached upon and the rest of the place was being used as garbage dump. No government paid heed to developing this park during the last 20 years.

Mr Kamal directed the official concerned to remove all encroachments on the allocated 25 acres of the park to develop and renovate it on modern lines. He took strong note of dumping garbage in the park area and said no one was allowed to dump garbage inside or outside the park. —Staff Reporter
