SHIKARPUR, March 20: Police on Thursday registered an FIR against PML MNA-elect and former federal minister Ghous Bux Mahar, his son MPA-elect Mohammad Shaharyar Mahar, Taib union council nazim Nadar Shah and 23 others in a double murder case.

The FIR, registered under sections 302, 324, 435, 147, 148, 149 of the PPC and related sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act, pertains to the killing of Lutfullah Bhayo and Qabil Bhayo of Piyaro Bhayo village by armed men on the second day of Feb 18 general elections.

The FIR was registered on the complaint of Abdul Khalique Bhayo by the Rustam police.

ACCIDENT: An ASI was killed and a police constable was seriously injured in a collision between a truck and a car near Dakhan on Garhi Yasin-Ratodero road on Thursday evening.

The dead ASI, Abdul Sattar Pathan and constable Nusrat Jakhro were on their way in a car from Dakhan to Shikarpur when a speedy truck coming from opposite direction collided head-on. Mr Pathan died on the spot. The deceased ASI was the incharge investigation officer of Dakhan police station. The injured constable was referred to civil hospital Larkana.

The truck driver escaped. Police arrested two truck cleaners namely Mohammad Akram and his brother Waheed Ali, and impounded the truck.
