TOBA TEK SINGH, March 26: A naib tehsildar and a patwari were suspended from service on Wednesday after they were allegedly caught red-handed while raping a girl in Garden Town locality some three days back.

According to a press release, EDO (Revenue) Malik Ashraf Awan took the action against naib tehsildar Rana Muhammad Iqbal and patwari Muhammad Pervaiz after police registered a case against them under sections 371, 376 and 114 PPC. The release further said a disciplinary action would also be taken against them. Another naib tehsildar was also present at the time of the police raid, but he managed to escape from the scene. Although the case was also registered against him, he has not been suspended for reasons best known to the department.

MURDERED: A youth was murdered by two unidentified men at Gojra on Wednesday.

Reports said Nadeem alias Deema of Chak 366-GB was waiting for a bus near Samundri Road bypass when two car riders came there and shot him dead on the spot. The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained so far.

STRIKE: Members of the district bar association on Wednesday observed a one-hour strike on the call of the Supreme Court Bar Association for the restoration of the deposed judges.

The DBA, in its meeting held with bar president Mian Shoaib Muhammad in the chair, decided that lawyers would take out a rally on Thursday (today) from the barroom.

KIDNAPPED: A 12-year-old girl was kidnapped in Chak 287-JB (Pilasour) on Tuesday night.

Sadar police said Arif Joja of Chak 330-JB (Seowal) was working as tenant at a farmland in Pilasour village. He was asleep with his family when Amer and his two accomplices came there and held them up at a pistol point. Later, the intruders locked Arif, his wife and children in a room and took away his daughter with them.

BANNED: District Nazim Chaudhry Abdul Sattar banned on Wednesday burning of used tyres as fuel in the brick kilns and cotton sizing industrial units.
