Convict hanged

RAWALPINDI, April 15: A convicted prisoner was hanged in the Adiala jail on Tuesday, jail authorities said.

Waqar Ahmed Kiani, a resident of Kahuta Town, was awarded death sentence in a robbery-cum-murder case. He had filed a mercy petition with the president that was dismissed.

According to the prosecution, the convict along with Akhtar and Ghaffar Ahmed had been arrested by the Faisalabad police in January 1998.— Staff Reporter
