BATKHELA, April 25: A CD shop was blown up by suspected militants in Batkhela bazaar on Friday night.

No casualty was reported as the shop was shut at the time of the blast.

The Malakand levies said unknown miscreants detonated the improvised explosive device (IED) planted at the door of the Burhan CD shop, which is the only shop still dealing in the business at the Mir Afzal Khan market as all the CD shops have been closed due to the threatening letters issued to the owners.

The area is a strong-hold of the debunked Tehrik Nefaz Shariat-i-Muhammadi. Amandara, a few yards away from the Batkhela bazaar, is the headquarters of the TNSM.

The shop was partially damaged and windowpanes of the nearby shops were also smashed. The sound of the explosion was heard in the surrounding area of about five kilometers, creating panic among the residents.
