Rail track blown up near Sariab

QUETTA, April 28: The rail link between Quetta and the rest of the country was cut off on Monday evening after the main track was blown up in Sariab area.

It was the second incident of the blowing up of railway track in 24 hours.

According to sources, a four-foot portion of track was blown up by some people in Dashat area, some 30km off Quetta, at 2am.

Railway engineers repaired the damaged track and restored traffic after 12 hours.But the militants again blew up the main track linking Quetta with the rest of the county in Sariab area at 9pm.

Police said that saboteurs had placed an explosive device under the track near a small bridge and blew it up.

Railways authorities said the Quetta Express coming from Rawalpindi was stopped at Kolpur.

They said the damaged track would be repaired on Tuesday after security clearance.

Meanwhile, the building of the Kalat post office was damaged when a bomb exploded near it.

Beebargh Baloch, spokesman for the banned Baloch Liberation Army, claimed responsibility for blowing up the tracks and the blast in Kalat.
