ISLAMABAD, May 14: The Kohsar police have registered a case against kidnapping of two Pakistani nationals in Afghanistan about a month ago, the police said on Wednesday.

Manzoor Miran, a resident of Toba Tek Singh, lodged a complaint with the police stating that his brother Riaz Miran along with Javed Iqbal, a resident of Rawalpindi, was kidnapped by a senior official of a construction company and his accomplices.

He said the company offered employment to his brother and Mr Iqbal against handsome salaries and later kidnapped them. He alleged that the company official demanded a ransom of Rs500,000 for their release.

The police said the company was engaged in construction work in Afghanistan and in this regard had hired the two men. About a month ago these two men were kidnapped and a case was also registered with the police concerned in whose jurisdiction the incident had occurred in Afghanistan.

The city police registered the case, as the company’s sub- office located in Blue Area in the jurisdiction of Kohsar police had hired the men.

The SHO of Kohsar police told Dawn that they would request the Foreign Office to seek the help of the Afghan government in the recovery of the kidnapped men and collect details of the case from the concerned police for further investigation.— Staff Reporter
