LANDI KOTAL, May 26: A tribal elder was shot dead in the Zakhakhel Bazaar area in the Khyber Agency on Monday.
Malik Haibat Khan, an elder of the Zakhakhel tribe, was going to Landi Kotal when some people stopped his vehicle. Witnesses said the gunmen disembarked the elder from the vehicle and shot him dead.
This is the third incident of target killing in the area during the last few days. Unidentified people had killed four relatives of MNA from Khyber Pirzada Noorul Haq Qadri in the Jamrud tehsil adjacent to Peshawar on May 21. Earlier, a tribal elder had been killed in the area.
BEHEADED BODY: The beheaded body of a schoolteacher was found in front of the office of the assistant political agent in the Sadda town in Lower Kurram on Monday, our correspondent adds from Parachinar.
Armed men had kidnapped teacher Wajid Ali from the Sadda bazaar on Sunday.
Two other people along with their vehicle had also been abducted in Sadda on Sunday.
The local teachers’ association condemned the killing of Mr Ali and called upon the government to arrest the culprits immediately.
The association announced four-day mourning over the murder of their colleague.
