Militant killed in Bajaur clash

KHAR, June 4: One Taliban was killed and two others were injured in exchange of fire with security forces at a check-post in Nawagai, some 28 kilometres from here, on Wednesday, and a Taliban spokesman warned of taking revenge.

According to political administration officials, the business centre of Nawagai remained closed for few hours after the incident.

The officials said some militants of the local Taliban were passing near the check-post were asked to stop approaching the check-point. But they ignored the warning and continued to move towards the check-post on which security forces opened fire on them.

The exchange of fire continued for few hours and as a result one of them identified as Zaiur Rehman was killed on the spot while two others identified as Luqman and Dawood sustained serious injures.
