IJT book stall attacked

Published June 7, 2008

SARGODHA, June 6: Over 100 baton-wielding people attacked a book stall of the Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT) here on Friday on Stadium Road and damaged books and injured six activists, IJT leaders alleged.

They said the attack was planned by members of the National and Punjab assemblies. They alleged the University of Sargodha had not allowed the IJT to set up its stall at a book fair on the university campus and the student wing had to run its stall on Stadium Road.

They also alleged that police did not act against the attackers and were reluctant to register a case against assailants.

STRIKE: Almost 200 sanitary workers went on strike against a Tehsil Municipal Administration contractor who, according to them, has not paid them salaries for the last three months.
