DERA GHAZI KHAN, June 9: Police claimed to have killed a proclaimed offender in an ‘encounter’ in Kot Mubarik.

Police said that acting on a tip-off, they raided a house where Rashid, alias Rashi Jat, wanted for 11 cases, was asleep along with his two accomplices. The accused retaliated the raid with indiscriminate firing on police, Saddar sub-divisional police officer Chaudhry Liaqat said. During the shootout, Rashid was killed and his accomplices fled from the scene. “Fortunately” policemen remained unhurt in the encounter.—Correspondent
