KOHAT, June 15: Suspected militants on Sunday hijacked two vehicles along with the watchman of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) on Thall road in the Hangu district, official sources said.

In another development, local Taliban pasted leaflets on the walls of different schools and mosques in the Kohat city on Sunday, demanding separate education system in all the private and public schools.

They also demanded immediate closure of all the CD centers, billiard games and carom clubs and warned to take action against violators.

Meanwhile, a man was injured and three houses were collapsed, while a number of trees were uprooted when strong winds and heavy rain lashed the Kohat district on Sunday afternoon, disrupting power supply to many areas.

Eyewitnesses said that the man suffered injuries when a two-room house collapsed in a guava orchard, which also killed his cows.

They said that a house was collapsed near the Rehman Medical Center in the Kohat city, while another caved in at the Miankhel locality.

The gusty winds also uprooted trees in different parts of the city, which fell on the main electricity lines, disrupting power supply, which could not be restored till filing of this report.

A portion of the boundary wall of the courts building was also damaged by the strong winds.
