KARACHI, June 19: Four people were killed on Thursday in acts of violence in different parts of the city, police and hospital sources said.

A 26-year-old man was shot dead in Balida Town. His body was taken to the Civil Hospital, where he was identified as Umer Khan Niazi, son of Qaiser Khan.

Balida Town police said the victim was a taxi driver and he was shot dead by two motorcyclists at Sector 4-B, Mohajir Camp 5.

They said the cab driver, resident of Jan Nagar, Baldia Town, was replacing a wheel of his vehicle at a tyre shop when the assailant arrived there and sprayed him with bullets.

Hospital sources said the victim received three bullets in his upper torso from a very close range as they went through his body.

The police registered a case against unknown assailants on the complaint of the victim’s father.

The police said the murder seemed to be motivated by personal feud.

Truck driver killed

A 43-year-old man was shot dead near the Lyari railway station.

Docks police said Ameer Abdullah, resident of Machhar Colony, was shot dead during a quarrel.

They said the victim’s brother, Zafar, lodged the FIR against Riaz and Khani for the murder of his brother.

The police said the suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident. They said no arrest had been made and the police mounted a search for the suspects.

Charred body

The charred body of a young man was found in a drain in Sector 4-A of Surjani Town.

The police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where sources said the body was at least two days old.

They said the victim, who appeared to be in his twenties, was not recognizable as his face was also burnt.

The body was later kept at Edhi’s Morgue.

Addict stabbed to death

A 25-year-old heroin addict was stabbed to death in Yousuf Plaza.

His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was identified as Junaid, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of UP Mor.

The police said the victim was killed during a quarrel with other addicts.

Boy recovered

A joint team of the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee and the Anti-violent Crime Unit recovered a 10-year-old boy, who was kidnapped for ransom in the Ferozabad police area, and arrested the alleged kidnapper.

Police said Mohammed Ali kidnapped Ali Hussain, son businessman Arif Hussain, in the morning and demanded Rs30 million for his release.

They said the kidnapper agreed to a ransom of Rs15 million after a series of negotiations with the victim’s family.

The police said the kidnapper kept the boy in his car and he was arrested in the Soldier Bazar area, where he had gone to receive ransom.

Suspect wounded

A suspected robber was shot and wounded by people in Hasrat Mohani Colony.

Pak Colony police said a suspect was caught by the passengers of a minibus (route G-19) when he tried to rob them.

They said the people also snatched a pistol from him and shot him in a leg with it.

The police said the passengers also beat the driver suspecting him to be an associate of the suspect.

The injured suspect and the driver were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where they were identified as Fakhr-i-Alam and Gul Badshah.
