HARIPUR, Aug 3: A man and his married daughter were axed to death, while his son was wounded when a relative allegedly attacked them in village Chulairi of Ghazi tehsil, some 32 kilometres off here on Sunday.

Ghazi police quoted one Aziz Khan as saying that he was out in a nearby jungle with his cattle when his relative Ali Aksar came and told him that he had murdered his father, sister and brother.

The man also attacked him with an axe injuring him slightly. However, he fled to save his life but on reaching home he found his father Ilyas Khan and sister Ameer Jan, 18, dead. His brother Ameer Khan, 10, was seriously injured, the police said. Ameer Khan was taken to the civil hospital Ghazi where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

The motive behind the double-murder was reported to be an old family feud. The Ghazi police registered a case against the accused who had fled the area.

CAR THIEVES HELD: The Haripur police claimed to have arrested two alleged car thieves and recovered a stolen Suzuki carry from them near Farooqia barrier here on Sunday.

The two men had snatched the Suzuki carry from its driver in Mansehra. They were heading towards Punjab when the police apprehended them, DPO Hussain Ahmed Khan told Dawn.
