First merit list for MBBS


LAHORE, Oct 25: The first consolidated list of candidates desirous of getting admission to MBBS first professional year classes at nine public sector medical colleges in Punjab was issued by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Saturday.

The list has been displayed on the varsity campus and uploaded on its website www.uhs.edu.pk besides all the nine medical colleges of the province, said a UHS spokesman. As many as 18,270 candidates had on Sept 14 appeared in the entrance test for admission to all medical and dental institution of Punjab, including the King Edward Medical College University (KEMU) and the Fatima Jinnah Medical College.

The first list contained names, FSc marks, entry test marks and percentage etc of the 1,862 candidates, eligible to get admission to the MBBS first professional year against open merit seats only.

The list of candidates eligible to get admission to BDS first professional year would be displayed within three days or so, added the spokesman. He said that many candidates had submitted forms for admission to both medical and dental colleges of the province. Such candidates would be asked to retain either the MBBS or the BDS seat and submit an undertaking in this regard.

Giving break-up of the MBBS seats, he said that 262 candidates would get admission to King Edward Medical University; 240 to Allama Iqbal Medical College; 160 to Fatima Jinnah Medical College; 142 to Services Institute of Medical Sciences, Lahore; 229 to Nishtar Medical College, Multan; 251 each to Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi Medical College, Rawalpindi; 249 to Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur, and 78 to Shaikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan. — Staff Reporter
