12 Afghan nationals captured

GUJRANWALA, Dec 27 Police arrested at least 12 Afghan nationals from Gujranwala suburbs and shifted them to an unidentified place for investigation on Sunday.

The arrested Afghan nationals were living in tents near Khiali Shahpur on Sheikhupura Road and other places. Most of them can`t speak Urdu, but they have Pakistani national identity cards.

DEMOS AGAINST GAS OUTAGE Scores of women and children from Ghakkhar and Qila Dedar Singh towns on Sunday staged demonstrations and took out rallies against gas loadshedding.

They threatened to besiege the regional office of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) after Muharram holidays if gas supply to domestic consumers was not restored immediately.

INJURED At least seven people were injured in a crossfire after a quarrel between children of two families in Shergarh Sadhoki village on Sunday.

Playing in a ground near the village, Mubarik and Allah Ditta had a row and then called in their families. Their family members initially attacked each other clubs and axes and then resorted to firing. As a result, seven people from both families were injured. The injured were admitted to Kamoke Civil Hospital, where their condition was said to be stable.

Kamoke`s Sadar police have registered a case against both families.
