I want you to be happy — what a beautiful thought! It's wonderful that there is a day — March 3 — called “I want you to be happy day”. There can be nothing better than putting others before ourselves and trying to make them happy. If each one of us does this then the whole world will be happy!
We spend so many important moments of life mourning for things we wished for but did not get, we strived for but failed to achieve, we prayed for but were rebuffed and we begged for but were thrashed aside. We don't even get bored of making ourselves unhappy this way. But on this day, let us set aside all our gloomy thoughts and let us not shackle ourselves in any mean thought. And why stick to just wishing happiness for our nearest and dearest alone, let's broaden our outlook and wish contentment for everyone on the globe.
Giving someone a reason to smile will bring a smile on your lips too and, believe me, this smile will remain long after the moment has passed. And the pleasure you get from making others happy is greater when those you cheered up were in pain or surrounded by sorrows.
I have been to many hospitals lately, for it is part of my studies. In the burns section of a hospital, I saw a kid who looked a lot like my nephew, around eight years of age. When I tried talking to him, I discovered his fingers were going to get amputated for the electric shock he received by accident had incurably gangrened the tissue. Then I visited the dermatology ward for skin treatment and stumbled upon a lady who was abnormally short and... had no nose!
These are just few examples of the sufferings of people in this world. And the suffering is not always physical, the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of a person's personality also decide how happy a person is. And how many people actually have someone who wishes them to be happy? Certainly not everyone is as lucky as we are. So let us make this day, March 3, a happy one all — friends and enemies, the young and the old, and those we know and those we don't. A happy I Want You to be Happy Day!
